If we hire a real estate agent, can they work with us on foreclosed properties?
Filed Under Renting & Real Estate | 5 Comments
Can most real estate agents help their clients with foreclosed properties, or do they usually just stick to listings with home owners? We’re looking into buying, but are on a limited budget, and want to look more closely into foreclosures. Thanks.

Hi, I’m interested in becomming a real estate developer. I have the funding so loans are not a problem. I am not willing to get a degree in it because I honestly feel I will not need it. Plus, I am almost done with a degree in Psychology.
I have looked online for books but cannot find one that is really helpful to me. I can take a few classes in it including General Contracting, but that is it. Finding a mentor has proven difficult because not many people are willing to share what they know.
So does anyone know of any good books or classes that I should take (be specific) so that I can get started. Please answer my question with any references you may have.
Thanks!!
I want to build houses and sell them. I am not looking into ‘flipping houses’. Plus, I will be hiring a General Contractor. Basically, it’s like I want to build my own house then sell it. Why is that difficult?

I’ve recently become interested in real estate appraisal as a career. Can anyone give me the exact requirements for certification in California? Also, does anybody know what the job market looks like for appraisers in San Diego?

How much will a real estate liquidation company mark down a property each month?
Filed Under Renting & Real Estate | 1 Comment
I’m interested in a property that went into foreclosure and is now being sold by a real estate liquidation company. Supposedly, they will systematically drop the price until it sells. If true, how much will the price drop each month? Is there a standard formula for real estate liquidation?

Do real estate agents get paid on only commission or is there a salary as well?
Filed Under Other - Careers & Employment | 2 Comments
I am looking into changing careers and do have an interest in real estate. Does anyone do this for a living or know if real estate agents get paid a salary at all or if everything is solely based on commissions from selling a house.
Thank you!

How do you get your Real Estate License and how can you become successful in that profession?
Filed Under Renting & Real Estate | 5 Comments
I have been interested in it for awhile - I worked at a law office for a couple years - would that help me get my foot in the door at a Real Estate company? Anyone have any advice or experience to share with me?

Will I need a real estate license to enter into a contract with any apt complex to locate renters for them?
Filed Under Small Business | 1 Comment
Thank you all for responding so promptly to my question on obtaining a real estate license. Now I see and understand that I don’t need one to locate the apartment, but the obtaining the education would be beneficial to me. If I want to enter into a contract with an apartment complex do I need a license for that? I wouldn’t show the apartment to the renter, but I’d let them know where it was and all of the other fun stuff that comes along with the search.
Thank you all!

As a seller of real estate can I back out of the contract during the option period?
Filed Under Renting & Real Estate | 4 Comments
I am selling some real estate and now need to stop the sale. As the seller can I stop the sale? We are in the option period right now.
Thank you for the answers - not what I wanted to hear… when I say option period, the buyer is still deciding if they want to back out or not. I extended the option period for them to think it over some more but now I want to cancel.

I’m a 2nd year real estate agent, how much is a reasonable amount in business expense write offs?
Filed Under United States | 2 Comments
I’ve made less this year than last in my real estate business because the market is really bad right now. I have much more in business expenses though. I don’t want to be audited, just wondering if anyone out there with experience knows what a reasonable amount in expenses for just having one sell.
